UP: Pollution Control Board slaps fine of Rs 1.62 crore on factory for burning furnaces illegally

The Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) on Monday levied a fine of Rs 1.62 crore on a metal works company which was burning furnaces illegally.

The Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) on Monday levied a fine of Rs 1.62 crore on a metal works company which was burning furnaces illegally.

“We levied a fine on a metal company which was running furnaces illegally. We conducted an investigation first and levied the fine of Rs 1.62 crore on the company,” said official in the pollution control department, JN Tiwari on Monday.

The officials of the UPPCB conducted a raid on the factory premises and then also ordered a shutdown of the factory.

The official further added that strict action against the accused will be taken after the completion of the investigation process.
