2019 Stuff the Bus Distribution Day

Utica, N.Y. – 45,000 toys filled the gym at Notre Dame High School in Utica on Sunday, and in less than 5 minutes, they were all put in bags by representatives of local agencies to take with them and distribute to local families in need later this week.

The 2019 version of the Fidelis Care Stuff the Bus campaign ended with quite a scene once again.

Over the past six weeks, Roser Communications along with WKTV, helped recruit listeners and viewers to donate toys for the annual campaign.

Ken Roser, President of Roser Communications, says this feeling of giving and helping people, never gets old, “I’m very proud of our community. I’m proud of the fact that, you know, when we decide whether or not we want to stay in the area to live, or grow our business, or just get involved in community events like this, I think things like this tell everyone about the nature of our community, and I’m very proud.”

This year, there is a bit of a different feeling about those in need, because there are so many who lost so much in the Halloween flooding.

WKTV General Manager Steve McMurray was at Sunday’s distribution day but he was also at a special night Saturday night, also at Notre Dame, where a certain number of toys were given to representatives from local school districts hardest hit by the flooding, “We’ve done this so many years and every year you leave with a great feeling in your heart that you’ve helped so many people, but it was just different.  When you see teachers of kids who have been flooded out and who are thinking they probably weren’t going to have a Christmas, they’ll have a Christmas now and it really hits you and you’re like wow that’s why we’re doing what we’re doing.”
