Tomato & Onion priced below INR 10/kg, Okhla Wholesalers incur huge losses

We went to the Okhla Mandi where the prices of essential vegetables like tomatoes and onions have dropped – much like in many other mandis in Delhi. While tomatoes are being sold for Rs 5 per kg, the onions have been priced at Rs. 8 per kg. The wholesale vendors are incurring huge losses with no customers to buy the vegetables due to the sudden pandemic crisis. Majority of the business was from Hotels and restaurants but with them being closed the wholesale rates have dropped like never before.
