‘Tis the season of the supply chain crisis

By U.S. Rep. Markwayne Mullin

Washington, D.C. – There are many traditions in my family that mark the beginning of the Christmas season. Picking out our tree, listening to Christmas music, and decorating our home are among the ones we enjoy together as we prepare to celebrate the holiday.

Unfortunately, President Biden and his Democrat Party are creating worry during this important season.

This holiday season will be plagued by one of the worst supply chain crises our country has ever seen. High prices and low inventory will be what you see in the stores as you struggle to shop for your loved ones and it is all thanks to the Democrats’ disastrous policies.

I am sure many of you felt the impact of rising prices and empty shelves while preparing for Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, Christmas is shaping up to be the same way.

Due to this crisis, almost all of the gifts you purchase will cost more this Christmas. The average shopper is expected to pay nine percent more this holiday season and out-of-stock messages are up 124 percent from pre-pandemic levels.

Even Christmas trees will cost more if you’re able to find one. According to the Associated Press, both real and artificial trees are projected to cost anywhere between 10- to 30-percent more.

Democrats are only making matters worse. Instead of working to decrease inflation and stop the backlog at our nation’s ports that are causing these shortages, they are passing legislation that bankrupts our country and prioritizes their socialist wish list.

To ensure you can get presents under the tree this year, be sure to shop at local small businesses and buy products that are made in the USA. You may even want to try your hand at making a homemade gift instead of waiting on packages to arrive from large retailers.

And while gift giving may bring a challenge this year, we must keep in mind that gifts are not the true meaning of the season.

John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Take time with your friends and family to thank God for blessing us with his son, Jesus Christ who was freely given as a gift of life to save sinners like you and me.
