Supply Chain Issues Delay Cape Cod Canal Project

CAPE COD, MA — Supply chain delays are causing issues for a project along the Cape Cod Canal, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said.

According to officials material and supply delays have pushed the replacement of small bridges along the south service road to “a later time frame.” The Canal Generating Plant, which is overseeing this project, now expects work to take place sometime between Oct. 12 and 19.

Closures are expected in the area of the south service road between the Sandwich Recreation Area picnic pavilion and pole 60 during this time. The Canal Generating Plant set out temporary fencing showing where the work zone will be, officials said.

Pedestrians, cyclists and anglers won’t be permitted in the area as work is being done, officials noted.
