Rogers has announced that it will bring its high-speed Internet network to residents and businesses in Norfolk County, Ontario.

The carrier is working with the federal and state governments and the Southwestern Integrated Fiber Technology (SWIFT) project. SWIFT is a not-for-profit company whose goal is to improve connectivity in southwest Ontario, Caledon and the Niagara region by 2021

In addition to the $ 7.6 million joint CAD investment by SWIFT and Rogers, the freight forwarder will invest $ 800,000 to cover ineligible project costs.

Rogers will build a fiber optic network to connect 71 kilometers of underserved roads and supply more than 2,100 households and businesses. According to the operator, these municipalities currently have only limited access to the high-speed Internet.

“Rogers Fiber Network offers a range of Internet packages, including gigabit speeds across the entire cable length, and will support higher speeds with the development of technology and services,” the carrier wrote in a statement.

Construction will begin in early 2020 and the services will be available in late 2020 as part of a gradual process.
