Microsoft offers high-performance AI virtual machines plus news from Boomi, Hazelcast, Neo4J, Yellowbrick Data, VMware, Red Hat, and more.

Keeping pace
with news and developments in the real-time analytics market can be a daunting
task. We want to help by providing a summary of some of the items our staff
came across each week. Here is a short list of some news from this week:

Red Hat, Inc. made several
announcements related to Kubernetes, Kubernetes management, and edge computing.
Specifically, it announced:

  • The general availability of Red Hat OpenShift 4.5, the latest version
of its comprehensive Kubernetes platform. Red Hat OpenShift 4.5, which includes
the general availability of OpenShift Virtualization, is designed to help
organizations break down application barriers between traditional and
cloud-native infrastructure and extend control over distributed resources.
  • The general availability of Red
Hat Advanced Cluster Management for Kubernetes
, the latest addition to Red
Hat’s portfolio of IT management technologies designed for the hybrid cloud.
Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management for Kubernetes is designed to help
organizations further extend and scale Red Hat OpenShift with enterprise-grade management
capabilities across hybrid and multicloud environments, allowing them to manage
multiple Kubernetes clusters and enable multi-cluster application deployments
across hybrid clouds while ensuring policy and governance.
  • New products and capabilities aimed at helping
enterprises launch edge computing strategies built on an open hybrid cloud
backbone. New features in Red Hat OpenShift and Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management for Kubernetes enable
organizations to address the needs of demanding edge workloads, like the use
of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) in industrial
manufacturing use cases, allowing them to more seamlessly manage and scale
hybrid cloud environments from a single point.

Microsoft announced its
new ND A100 v4 VM—an
AI virtual machine series
designed to give its customers a massive AI
processing boost. The new virtual machine series starts with eight NVIDIA
Ampere A100 GPUs—from there, users can scale up to as many GPUs as they
need—each has 1.6Tb/s of bandwidth. The GPUs are connected via a 200GB/s
InfiniBand link. Microsoft claims this offers customers 16 times more bandwidth
than its competitors. Microsoft also points out that the new series will be
backed up by a newly engineered AMD Rome-powered platform and will be twice as
fast as its current platform. Microsoft says the new system will give users a
two to three times boost in performance compared to the current virtual machines series,
and users will not have to do any new engineering work on their end as part of
setup.

Informatica, the
enterprise cloud data management leader, announced it acquired GreenBay Technologies
Inc. to accelerate its innovation in AI and machine
learning data management technology. The acquisition will strengthen the
core capabilities of Informatica’s AI-powered CLAIRE® engine across its
Intelligent Data Platform™, empowering businesses to identify, access, and
derive insights from organizational data to make informed business decisions
more easily. Core to the GreenBay acquisition is three distinct and advanced
capabilities in entity matching, schema matching, and metadata knowledge graphs
that will be integrated across Informatica’s product portfolio. These
technologies will accelerate Informatica’s roadmap across Master Data
Management, Data Integration, Data Catalog, Data Quality, Data Governance, and
Data Privacy.

Neo4j announced that Neo4j Aura for Google Cloud Platform is now available as a
fully integrated graph database service on the Google Cloud Marketplace. Cloud-native
and built specifically for data relationships, Neo4j Aura™ offers an easy way
to deploy, manage, and scale a graph database. The new release introduces Neo4j
Aura Professional as a tightly integrated graph database service via the Google
Cloud Marketplace. As a self-service solution, Neo4j Aura Professional is
