Police Uncover Illegal Cigarette Factory Hidden Underneath Horse Stable

Spanish authorities shut down an illegal cigarette factory that was hidden in an underground bunker about 12 feet underneath a horse stable. Police arrested 20 people from Britain, Ukraine, and Lithuania and rescued six Ukrainian workers who were trapped inside.

The workers were forced to live in hazardous conditions and were not allowed to leave. When officers found them, they were struggling to breathe because the fan designed to pump air into the bunker was running out of gas.

Officials said the plant had been operating since 2019 and was capable of turning out 3,500 cigarettes every hour. During the raid, they seized three million cigarettes, over three hundred pounds of marijuana, 44 pounds of hashish, and three weapons.
