PH factory output contracts anew – The Manila Times

FACTORY output, both in volume and value continued to decline in September but at a slower pace compared to the recorded contraction in August, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said.

Results of the latest Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries released on Thursday showed that the country’s volume of production (VoPi) contracted by 8.4 percent in September from -9.0 percent in August.

The decline however was worse the -6.5 percent recorded contraction in the same month last year.

Value of production (VaPi) on the other hand, also declined by 11.9 percent, slower than August’s 13.3 percent decrease but higher than the -6.5 percent in September 2019.
