The city of Lewisville will cover Norman International Dallas’ building permit fees as part of the economic incentive agreement, which council members approved at their Aug. 17 meeting.
The company is planning to add 130,000 square feet of warehouse and manufacturing space to the building, located northwest of where Valley Ridge Boulevard meets I-35. Fifty jobs would be created as a result of the expansion, according to city documents.
Norman specializes in making shutters, blinds, shades and similar products, according to the company’s website.
The company would see savings on permit fees ranging between $30,000 and $40,000, according to a city staff analysis. Roughly $10 million in new taxable property would be added as part of the improvements.
Under the agreement’s terms, Norman would be required to begin construction by the end of January and wrap up the project before the end of 2021.
The company would also be required to construct a new eight-foot-tall masonry screening wall on the property’s western edge.
