Motion Industries acquires automation controls firm

Birmingham, Alabama-based Motion Industries Inc., a distributor of maintenance, repair and operation replacement parts with a global footprint, has announced the acquisition of Applied Machine and Motion Control Inc. (AMMC), a northern Kentucky-based supplier of motion control and automation products and services. The transaction closed on Sept. 1.

Founded in 1995, AMMC predominantly serves customers in Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, western Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The firm provides products and services pertaining to motion control, drives, human-machine interface (HMI), programmable control (PC) and embedded control, automation control, mechanical, robotics, motors and mechatronics to a customer base of OEMs and end users.

Motion Industries has annual sales of $6 billion tied to the distribution of bearings, mechanical power transmission products, electrical and industrial automation components, hydraulic and industrial hose, hydraulic and pneumatic components, industrial and safety products, as well as material handling products and systems.

The firm has more than 550 locations, including 15 distribution centers in North America, while Motion Industries Asia Pacific has nearly 200 locations, including eight distribution centers in Australia and New Zealand.  Motion Industries is a wholly owned subsidiary of Atlanta-based Genuine Parts Co.
