Mercedes-Benz has temporarily cut the number of shifts at its plant in Kecskemet, Hungary, to two from three because of supply chain issues stemming from the war in Ukraine, a spokesperson confirmed to Automotive News Europe.
The factory builds the A-Class, CLA coupe, CLA station wagon and the full electric EQB.
In an email, the spokesperson said that Mercedes-Benz works with suppliers in Ukraine, among others, to source various components for vehicle production.
Europe’s automakers including Volkswagen Group and BMW are scrambling to replace Ukrainian-built parts such as wire harnesses, as Russia’s invasion halts assembly lines and breaks complex supply chains.
