Jamshedpur, Oct 19: City police is close on the heels of exposing a major drugs syndicate dealing in brown sugar. This was said on Wednesday by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of East Singhbhum Prabhat Kumar.
The SSP said a police team led by ASP Sudhanshu Jain had conducted raid near Telco Truck Park and arrested one Raju Dey with 24 packets of brown sugar. The accused, who has no criminal history, had reportedly come there to sell brown sugar to his clients.
“During interrogation, Raju Dey said he worked for a syndicate and also gave vital information about its activities. The brown sugar racket is being run from Adityapur. A local resident, Mustafa Ansari, is a wholesaler of brown sugar. The syndicate members take brown sugar from him and supply it across the city,” said the SSP.
