ISF Raided A Factory Producing Captagon Ingredients

Security forces in Lebanon raided a factory used for manufacturing materials that go into the production of narcotic pills.

The factory, located in Younine, northeastern Lebanon, was raided by a unit of the Baalbek platoon of the Internal Security Forces (ISF), the ISF said in a statement on Saturday.

The raid resulted in the arrest of 33-year-old “K.K.” and 18-year-old “R.K.,” both Lebanese nationals, and the seizure of 3,250 kilograms of ingredients used in the manufacturing process of Captagon pills.

The ISF said the raid was the outcome of extensive investigations and survey operations by the Baalbek platoon.

The two detainees and the seized materials were handed over to the Regional Anti-Narcotics Office in Zahle for further investigation.

The ISF announced earlier this week that it had successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle large quantities of Captagon pills and cannabis out of Lebanon.

This came nearly a week after a massive drug shipment, containing more than 8 million Captagon pills and more than 8 tons of cannabis, was caught in Egypt, coming from Lebanon.
