Girl Scouts bring holiday cheer using old pallets

PEORIA (HOI) — In Peoria and across the area, The Girl Scouts of Central Illinois took their hard work and put it up for auction on Saturday.

The Girls Scouts were busy creating Christmas trees out of old wooden pallets, all to raise money for their troops.

As coordinator Ana DeJayne explained, each tree has a unique story.

“It’s heartwarming,” DeJayne said. “We’ve got some that are dedicated to military, some that are dedicated to girl scouts in general and some are just fun and simple. They’re all powered by the girls thoughts, and getting to talk to them about how they created it was just really fun.”

The girls auctioned off the trees online Saturday. Find more information on how to purchase a tree on their Facebook page.
