Fire at garment factory in Dhaka’s Shyampur

A fire broke out at a garment factory in Dhaka’s Shyampur last night.

The fire broke out on the third floor of a seven-storey building, adjacent to Shyampur Lal Mosque, at 11:45pm, Rashed Bin Khaled, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence’s control room, confirmed to The Daily Star.

Nine firefighting teams are working to douse the fire, the fire official said.

The fire official also said, some people were able to get out from the floor after the fire broke out.

Once the fire is put out, it will be known whether anyone is trapped there, he added.

The reason of the fire and whether there are casualties could not be known immediately, he added.
