A manufacturer of coils for heating and cooling applications will establish its first U.S. manufacturing facility in central Tennessee, state and company officials announced.
Direct Coil will invest $14.4 million to renovate a Fayetteville, Tennessee, factory that formerly housed heating, ventilation, and air conditioning product maker Goodman Manufacturing. The company expects to create 75 new jobs over the next five years.
“Direct Coil is excited to be expanding its manufacturing footprint within the U.S.A.,” Pat Occhicone, the company’s president and CEO, said in a statement. “We are proud to be included in the Tennessee manufacturing community as well as joining the Lincoln County industrial family. We look forward to being a part of this welcoming and thriving community and look forward to working together for many years.”
The company specializes in industrial heating and cooling coils for numerous HVAC and refrigeration applications — particularly furnaces and air conditioning units.
Direct Coil, headquartered in Millhaven, Ontario, indicated it plans to replicate its Canadian operations at the new facility.
Goodman reportedly laid off more than 1,200 workers in Fayetteville when it closed its doors as part of a move to a Texas facility, but local officials noted that the closure had been in the works for several years and that the remaining positions in late 2019 were known to be temporary.
