Brexit news: Dominic Raab issues stern ultimatum to EU over tense fisheries row | UK | News

Speaking to Sky’s Sophy Ridge, the Foreign Secretary said a Brexit free trade deal is “there for the taking” as he sent a stern warning to Brussels. Dominc Raab said all the UK is asking for in the trade negotiations with the EU is to be “treated like all other countries” adding no one would accept to be bound by EU rules outside the bloc.

Mr Raab said there were only two bones of contentions in the negotiations, recognising one of them was the UK’s right to retain all fishing rights in British waters.

The Foreign Secretary claimed the EU is proposing the current arrangement on fishing rights remains unchanged after the UK leaves the bloc.

He said: “As a basic matter of principle, we couldn’t accept that.”

He added this week would be the “moment of reckoning” as he reminded the EU the UK is still prepared to walk away without a deal.
