AN award-winning factory opened its doors to visitors for National Manufacturing Day.
BCP Council councillors and pupils from Dorset schools were welcomed to Yunex Traffic’s Poole-based factory earlier this month.
The visit was hosted in celebration of National Manufacturing Day, which encourages companies to give people a behind-the-scenes look at their factories.
As well as a guided tour and a careers talk, the children all took part in a ‘micro:bit’ workshop- a look into a pocket-sized computer that introduces children to how software and hardware work together.
Wilke Reints, managing director of Yunex Traffic UK, said: “We are proud to support this national initiative and were delighted to welcome Councillor Mellor, Leader of BCP Council to our state-of-the-art factory, together with Deputy Leader Councillor Broadhead, Economic Development Officer Eddie Kirby and over 90 local school children.

“We were particularly pleased at how excited the schoolchildren were to see inside the 8,500 square metre factory and how interested they were in the different processes.
“We hope to have given them a glimpse into the world of manufacturing and an insight into the wide range of careers that are available. Hopefully we’ve planted some seeds and we’ll see some of them working in our business in the years to come.”
