Woman knocked out at Ice Cream Factory in Perth during Peking Duck

Doctors have said a woman was lucky she was not paralysed after a stunt went wrong at a Perth festival.

The 23-year-old was knocked out when a man somersaulted off the stage and into the crowd at Ice Cream Factory in Northbridge during Peking Duck’s set.

She was hit in the face and knocked unconscious.

Organisers say the shirtless man was partying with the band during the stunt.

Footage shows him give no warning before he flips into the crowd and the music was stopped.

Ice Cream Factory says the man was not authorised to be on stage and said once he realised he hurt someone, he was devastated and offered to cover any medical bills.

The 23-year-old was treated by paramedics at the outdoor venue.

“Human bodies are not designed to take that sort of trauma,” Andrew Miller from the Australian Medical Association said.

“If you’ve got a 60, or 70, or 80 kilogram man land on top of your head, that can break your neck and paralyse you. It could turn you into a quadriplegic.”
