Woman charged with death by distribution – THE RANT

A Lee County woman has been charged in connection with the 2020 death of a man who is reported to have died from a drug overdose.

Cory Dale Moore, 32, went missing in September of 2020, and investigators located his remains in a wooded area off Carbonton Road in western Lee County in February of 2021.

According to a press release from Lee County Sheriff Brian Estes on Thursday, an investigation by his office concluded that Moore died from a drug overdose. A grand jury subsequently indicted Samantha Michelle Goins, 29, of Sanford for felony death by distribution.

Goins was taken into custody Thursday and placed in the Lee County Jail under $250,000 secured bond. According to the press release, Goins was found in possession of methamphetamine at the time of her arrest and will face further drug charges.
