Why a century-old quarry outside of P’burg cannot recycle asphalt waste

A quarry near the Delaware River may not import waste asphalt milled off roads during construction for recycling, according to the municipality.

The Pohatcong Township Land Use Board issued the ruling Monday, Nov. 29, in an interpretation of whether local quarry laws permit the use of recycled asphalt pavings (RAP) — a source of truck traffic and environmental concerns.
