ARLINGTON — The Texas Rangers could perhaps use Amazon Prime. Due to supply chain issues, they have not received their powder blue, royal blue or red alternate jerseys for the season from Nike, who now manufactures the tops. It leaves them with only white and gray tops to wear for the time being.
According to the Rangers, several other MLB teams are in a similar situation due to the supply chain issue. The Rangers had planned to wear the red tops every home Friday and the powder blues for every home Sunday. The Rangers were 8-6 in the powder blues and 5-8 in the red tops. They were an abysmal 4-26 in the royal blues, which were worn on the road only.
Briefly: RHP Spencer Patton hit Mike Trout with an 81 mph slider on the top of the right hand to start the fifth. Trout was in visible pain and left the game, but X-rays showed no visible breaks or fractures. He was listed as “day-to-day.” The Rangers don’t face the Los Angeles Angels again until mid-May. … The Rangers are optimistic that RHP Josh Sborz, who went on the IL on Saturday with elbow soreness does not have any structural damage and should be able to begin throwing against shortly. … The Rangers are also optimistic that RHP Dennis Santana (COVID IL) could be active as early as the first day he’s eligible, which is Tuesday in Seattle. … OF Leody Taveras had three hits in Triple-A Round Rock’s 6-3 win over Sugar Land on Sunday. Taveras has six multi-hit games in his first 10 starts. He is hitting .432/.457/.659/1.116 to start the season.
