Wheat procurement in UP to begin from April 1
Lucknow, March 27 (UNI) Ensuring that the wheat procurement is ‘farmer centric’ by maximising profits, the wheat procurement in Uttar Pradesh for the Rabi marketing season (2022-23) will start at 6000 centres from April 1.
Striving in the interest of farmers’, the Yogi-led government has set a target to purchase a minimum of 60 lakh metric tonne (MT) of wheat. According to the schedule fixed by the Food and Logistics Department, wheat will be procured from April 1 to June 15. For the year 2022-23, the government has fixed the MSP of wheat at Rs 2015/quintal.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, during a review meeting, also instructed the officials to ensure that the needs of farmers are taken care of at the purchasing centers. Wheat should be procured from every eligible farmer who comes to the purchasing center without any delay in payments.
“Be it storage godown or purchasing centre, adequate arrangements should be made for the security of wheat everywhere,” said the CM here on Sunday.
He also gave clear directions to the departmental officers that wheat should be procured at all the purchasing centers with complete transparency. It should be ensured that the farmers do not face any inconvenience in selling his produce and it should be paid in a time-bound manner.
The registration process for wheat procurement in the state under the Minimum Support Price Scheme has been progressing smoothly since March 15.
According to the officials, it would be mandatory for every farmer to register on the Food Department’s portal https://fcs.up.gov.in/ for sale of wheat at government procurement centers. Farmers, however, who have registered for paddy procurement in Kharif Marketing Year 2021-22 will not need to re-register. They will just have to update their old details and lock them.
The farmers will be paid the price of wheat in their bank accounts only, therefore, it is mandatory to share the active bank account in the registration details. It is noteworthy that this year wheat will be procured at more than 6000 centres.
