Wheat procurement in India touched record level, FCI released figures

Despite the current crisis of epidemic corona, government agencies have purchased wheat at record levels from farmers this year. 388.34 lakh tonnes of wheat have been procured across the country, which is about seven lakh tonnes more than the previous record level. This year, Madhya Pradesh has purchased the highest wheat for the Central Bridge at 129.34 lakh tonnes. After this, Punjab is at the second place, where government agencies have purchased 127.11 lakh tonnes of wheat from farmers.

For your information, let us tell you that according to the data of wheat procurement compiled by Food Corporation of India (FCI) till Monday in the current Rabi marketing year 2020-21, government agencies across the country have procured 388.34 lakh tonnes of wheat, which was the same as last year 11.34 per cent more than 347.78 lakh tonnes of the period, while the record level so far.

Apart from this, in 2012-13, government agencies bought 381.48 lakh tonnes of wheat from farmers at the minimum support price. For the wheat produced in the Rabi season of the crop year 2019.20 (July-June), the Central Government has fixed the minimum support price (MSP) of Rs 1925 per quintal. Also, in the current Rabi marketing season 2020-21, government procurement of wheat is 129.34 lakh tonnes in Madhya Pradesh, 127.11 lakh tonnes in Punjab, 73.98 lakh tonnes in Haryana, 35.13 lakh tonnes in Uttar Pradesh, 21.61 lakh tonnes in Rajasthan, 57262 in Gujarat. Tonnes, 38026 tonnes in Uttarakhand, 11482 tonnes in Chandigarh, 5081 tonnes in Bihar, 3129 tonnes in Himachal Pradesh, 28 tonnes in Delhi and 11 tonnes in Jammu and Kashmir.
