WEIRTON — The Weirton United Way is putting its best foot forward to help residents in need.
The United Way received a donation of more than 300 pairs of new tennis shoes from GREATS shoe company, in collaboration with the United Way of Southern West Virginia in Beckley. The Weirton United Way’s Put Your Best Foot Forward Shoe Giveaway will be held May 28 at the Weirton Salvation Army, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., or until supplies run out.
There are no income guidelines for the giveaway, but individuals must be a resident of either Hancock County or the city of Weirton. Available shoe sizes include adult women’s 6 to 10, and adult men’s sizes 7 to 14.
School board to meet Tuesday
WELLSBURG –Because Monday is Memorial Day, the Brooke County Board of Education will be meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The meeting will be by teleconference. Those wishing to listen may dial (339) 209-5581 and those wishing to address the board should call the same number just prior to the meeting. Those wishing to speak will be given five minutes each.
