Watch Transmissions Get Built at Factory

Looking to kill some time? Love watching stuff get built? Sit back, relax, and switch on this video of transmissions coming together at an Indiana factory to take the load off.

This video comes to us from the Kokomo and Tipton transmissions plants in Indiana. It shows Fiat Chrysler’s new nine-speed transmission for both front- and rear- drive applications being built, start to finish. We get to see the castings get prepped, the gear sets installed, and all of the necessary bolts, pans, and mounting points put on. It’s intriguing to watch, especially if you’re into the engineering that goes into building a modern assembly line.

These transmissions will eventually end up in Dodge Journeys, Grand Caravans, Chargers, Challengers, Durangos, Jeep Grand Cherokees, Chrysler 300s, and Ram 1500s. So if you drive one of those cars, it’s likely your transmission came from this plant.
