Vancouver coffee company opens all-day brunch restaurant in downtown heritage building

Fresh on the heels of the launch of their new downtown roastery, cafe, and HQ, Vancouver coffee biz Pallet is opening an exciting new brunch-focused restaurant in a beautiful heritage building.

Called Palate Kitchen, the new restaurant in Vancouver’s financial district has moved into the 1921-built Ceperley Rounsfell Building, which is part of the Jameson House residential tower; the interior, with their high ceilings and mezzanines, received a heritage restoration by renowned architect Foster and Partners, according to realtor information.

The contemporary restaurant-cafe brings together “exceptional coffee with exceptional food” says Palate.

Their chef is Khalid Kahya, who has lived and worked in Morocco, Italy, and France, and has won the “Top Chef Dubai” competition. Kahya is overseeing an all-day menu of breakfast and lunch eats that includes things like an open-faced slow-cooked lamb sandwich with fried egg; a confit BBQ pork Benny; a skillet hotcake with fruit; and an assortment of loaded toasts. And, of course, you can expect a killer coffee program from Pallet.

Sit-down dining is available Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., however Palate Kitchen also offers a take-out window for those who want to grab coffee and maybe a pastry or sandwich from the case to go on weekdays, available from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The space is also available for private events.

Pallet launched their first cafe and roastery in East Van, on Semlin, in 2014, and have since evolved to boast additional locations on West Broadway in Kitsilano, on Oak Street near VGH, as well as cafes on Kingsway and Howe. Their Railtown facility and cafe opened in November 2019.

Palate Kitchen is putting the final touches on the space, and should be officially open to the public by the end of this week. You can follow them on Instagram or Facebook for updates.

Palate Kitchen is located at 848 W Hastings St in downtown Vancouver
