Geographically-challenged Rhode Island – the smallest state by area in the US – is looking to generate as much as half of its electricity from offshore wind off its coastline with the release of a request for proposals (RfP) for up to 1GW of new capacity.
Rhode Island governor Dan McKee announced that the state’s primary utility, Rhode Island Energy, issued an RfP for 600MW to 1GW of capacity, in line with the state’s Affordable Clean Energy Security Act (ACESA) signed by governor McKee last summer.
