Update: Manatee bomb squad destroys suspicious material – News – Sarasota Herald-Tribune

A major road was closed for the investigation.

A major Manatee County road was closed Tuesday morning because of suspicious material, which was destroyed by authorities.

According to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, 14th Street West (U.S. 41) was closed in both directions from 63rd Avenue West to Florida Boulevard while deputies investigated suspicious materials at a nearby business. At 10:45 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office announced its bomb squad destroyed the material.

The situation remained under investigation and drivers were advised to seek an alternate route.
