TOMS RIVER, NJ — Food distribution will continue in Toms River this Friday, as efforts to assist families in need during the coronavirus outbreak go forward.
The crisis food kits will be distributed at four Toms River area schools and in Ortley Beach on Friday. But next week, the locations may change.
Toms River Council President Maria Maruca said those who have been getting the food kits should check announcements next week. Renovations and repair work are scheduled at the schools over the summer break, which begins Monday, and that may force the township to find other locations.
On Friday, the food kits will be distributed on a first come, first served basis beginning at 11 a.m. at the following locations:
- East Dover Elementary School, 725 Vaughn Ave., Toms River
- Joseph A. Citta Elementary School, 2050 Lakewood Road, Toms River
- South Toms River Elementary School, 419 Dover Road, Toms River
- Walnut Street Elementary School, 60 Walnut St., Toms River
- Third Avenue Parking Lot, Ortley Beach
The kits are provided in cooperation with Fulfill, the food bank that serves Monmouth and Ocean counties.
The food distribution will be performed drive-through style. Families should remain in their vehicle at all times. Please keep your windows closed and pop the trunk and and volunteers will deliver the food to the trunk or truck bed.
Fulfill is continuing to accept donations on its website.
In addition, Just Believe will have two drive-through food distributions:
On Friday, food will be distributed beginning at 2 p.m. at First Assembly of God Church, 800 Bay Ave.
On Saturday, the distribution will begin at 10 a.m. at Alive Again Alliance Church, 1060 Church Road.
