Toll In Factory Blast Rises To 2 | Bhubaneswar News

Berhampur: A foreman, who was injured in a blower pipe explosion at a sugar factory in Aska of Ganjam district, succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital at Bhubaneswar on Saturday, taking the toll in the accident to two.

Shyam Narayan Ray of Bihar died after battling for 12 days, sources said. The accident occurred on May 16 at the distillery unit of Aska Sugar Industries Ltd. One Bighneswar Behera of Haladiapadar succumbed to his injuries on May 19.

Manoranjan Nayak, managing director, said that while an estimated Rs 11 lakh will be paid to the family of Behera, the compensation was yet to be calculated in case of Ray.

Factory authorities have also ordered an inquiry into the incident.TNN
