Then and Now: A factory that became a supermarket – and a supermarket that will become flats and shops

This week, we are focusing on supermarkets past and present for Then and Now.

This first picture, from May 1993, shows Glenister’s Factory, as taken from Benjamin Road. The factory has now been replaced by Morrisons.

This is a shot from February 1989 and shows the Budgens supermarket and nearby premises on the corner of Old Kiln Road in Flackwell Heath.

The Budgens store has been empty since it shut seven years ago but will now be revamped.
