Waterford – A Friday traffic stop by local police led to numerous charges — including operating a drug factory — and resulted in the seizure of drugs, cash, weapons and ammunition.
Police pulled over a 2000 Mercedes-Benz sedan on Hartford Turnpike in the early morning, according to a news release. They said Scott J. Gomes, 27, of 44 West Thames St., apt. 3, Norwich, didn’t immediately stop.
Gomes was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, disobeying the signal of an officer, sale of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, operating a drug factory, possession of drug paraphernalia and weapons in a motor vehicle.
A conversation with Gomes and sobriety testing led to his DUI arrest, police said.
Montville police brought a K-9, which located cocaine, more than eight ounces of marijuana, a stiletto style knife and more than 60 THC cartridges for vaping, police said.
Police said Gomes was processed and his car impounded at the Waterford station. A vehicle inventory yielded a firearm, ammunition, an undisclosed amount of cash, and drugs including PCP, cocaine and ecstasy.
He was issued a $50,000 bond. His court date was not immediately available.
