Tennessee Creates New System to Track Procurement Diversity

Tennessee’s Governor’s Office of Diversity Business Enterprise (Go-DBE) launched dashboards last week to report contracting diversity spend and increase transparency around this data.

There is a public-facing dashboard that will be updated weekly as well as internal, agency-specific dashboards to track metrics related to increasing minority group participation in the government contracting process.

The public-facing dashboard allows users to view statewide diversity data, including historical year-over-year figures and spend broken down by county or diversity category. These categories include minority-owned, women-owned, owned by persons with disabilities, service-disabled veteran-owned and small businesses.


Previously, Go-DBE employees had to pull queries across different systems to provide state agencies with updates. Agencies track their diversity spend goals — determined based on spend history, current contracts and upcoming procurements — throughout the year.

“Our Go-DBE team continues to perform exceptionally well as they’ve continued to surpass their record for diversity spend year after year, and on top of that, they’ve now created an innovative platform to showcase this spend data,” said Chief Procurement Officer Mike Perry in an announcement.

Go-DBE was created in 2003 to coordinate the state’s work to support participation by businesses meeting different categories of diversity in procurement and contracting opportunities with the state.

Data will be extracted for the dashboards using the state’s diversity software, B2Gnow.
