The Taiwan Flour Millers’ Association purchased 104,600 tonnes of milling wheat to be sourced from the United States in a tender which closed on Thursday, European traders said.
The wheat was bought in two consignments comprising various wheat types for shipment from the US Pacific Northwest coast in February and March 2020, they said.
The first consignment for shipment between Feb. 7 and Feb. 21 involved 29,200 tonnes of US dark northern spring wheat of 14.5pc protein content bought at $265.95 a tonne FOB US Pacific Northwest coast, traders said.
The first consignment also involved 17,675 tonnes of hard red winter wheat of 12.5pc protein content bought at $237.83 a tonne FOB and 6,275 tonnes of soft white wheat with 9pc protein bought at $230.80 a tonne FOB.
The first consignment has an additional freight charge of $30.89 per tonne for ocean shipping from the US Pacific Northwest coast to Taiwan, they said.
The second consignment for shipment between Feb. 23 and March 8 involved 27,550 tonnes of US dark northern spring wheat of 14.5pc protein content also bought at $265.95 a tonne FOB US Pacific Northwest coast.
The second consignment also involved 17,800 tonnes of hard red winter wheat of 12.5pc protein content bought at $239.68 a tonne FOB and 6,100 tonnes of soft white wheat of 9pc protein purchased at $230.80 a tonne FOB.
The second consignment has an additional freight charge of $31.05 per tonne for ocean shipping from the US Pacific Northwest coast to Taiwan, they said.
All the wheat in the tender was sold by trading house CHS.
In its last reported tender on Nov. 15, the association purchased 95,750 tonnes of milling wheat also to be sourced from the United States.
