Sysco Speciality Group launches Best of British catering guide, with new range of local produce | News

Sysco Speciality Group Best of British

Foodservice wholesaler Sysco Speciality Group has launched a new catering guide to help customers source a new range of local British produce with reduced lead times.

The new seasonal range is sourced from over 100 British farmers, dairy producers, bakers and fishers. Customers will be provided with information on the provenance of each product, allowing them to list the producer or farm on the menu.

Sysco said it had produced the guide as part of its commitment to support suppliers and achieve sustainability goals by providing a greater range of seasonal British products.

The range includes products such as Jersey Royal potatoes, Kent strawberries, outdoor rhubarb and first cut British asparagus.

Producers include a fruit grower in Kent, which uses regenerative farming methods, and a grower in Evesham producing sustainable hydroponic crops.

The guide also provides information on how sourcing local produce can help with budgeting, reducing environmental impact and improved animal welfare.

It comes after competitor JJ Foodservice recently launched an advance order service specialising in local British produce, also promising reduced lead times.
