Sustainable waste procurement at Royal Darwin Hospital

Some fledgling efforts have been made in the last year to make Royal Darwin a more hospitable hospital.

And this is mostly being led by staff volunteers.

The ABC’s Conor Byrne has been on a tour of the grounds to see tree plantings and ideas for cooling the hot paths, car parks, and for shading entire buildings.

Hi tour guide is Dr Mark de Souza of the NT Health Sustainable Health Care Committee.

But in a society which is increasingly shunning plastic and travel by fossil fuel, Conor seeks to find out a few home truths from the health community.

A clarification: the multi-story car park mentioned on the tape has 448 car parks, according to the NT Government.
