A new year hasn’t meant supply chain issues have gone away. Media coverage of supply chain problems has ebbed, but the tide hasn’t turned by any means, according to experts. According to the Marine Exchange of Southern California, a record 105 container ships were waiting for berths in Los Angeles and Long Beach, California last week.
As a result, there are more than three times as many container ships waiting off of Long Beach/Los Angeles compared to January 2021. Furthermore, that total is 31% more than on October 24, when the ports announced a congestion fee plan.

Elsewhere, the ports of New York/New Jersey have 11 ships offshore—the most on the East Coast.
