Massive Renewable Energy Project Enters Procurement Stage

Summary

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) revealed that a total of 5,279 megawatts (MW) new and renewable energy-based power plants had entered the procurement and exploration stages. All of these plants are included in the 2021-2030 PT PLN (State Electricity Company) Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL PLN).

Director-General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation Dadan Kusdiana said that from the total planned additional capacity of 20.9 gigawatts (GW) in PLN’s RUPTL, 5.279 MW or 25.2 percent of the project had started. The ongoing process includes procurement, exploration, power purchase agreement (PPA), construction, and operations. Meanwhile, 74.8 percent or another 15,644 MW are still in the planning stage. “In 2022, will be an additional NRE generating capacity of 647.78 MW,” Dadan told Katadata.co.id on Friday.
