Supply Chain Latest: DHL Sees U.S. Economy Avoiding Recession

A business trip last week and a movie Friday night offered DHL executive Jim Monkmeyer a few close looks at the U.S. economy. The theater parking lot was nearly full and most seats were occupied — a noticeable change from a month earlier. Same with the airplanes.

“Every flight you fly in the U.S. is booked or overbooked now,” he says. “So that’s the services factor that’s shifting, but that also tells you there are all these people with money that are flying, that are going to the theater, that are going out to eat as well. That, to me, doesn’t sound like a recession.”
