A training for the persons associated with the supply chain management, on the topic — ‘Food supply chain management for field assistants’ — concluded at CSK Himachal Pradesh Agriculture University here today. As many as 20 participants from the state attended the training.

Agriculture experts said the persons engaged in supply chain management could play a crucial role in making available safe and wholesome food from producers to the consumers.

They said the producers economically benefited from the supply chain management during the lockdown. An efficient system could also help in reducing post-harvest losses.

The trainees were advised to spread awareness in their villages and form cooperative societies or self-help groups for marketing and maintaining high standards for their farm produce and other products.

The VC said the university would also invite experts from banks, marketing fields and officers from the state Agriculture Department to be a part of such trainings in future. YP Thakur, Director, Extension Education, said the training was sponsored by the Agriculture Skill Council of India.
