Sufficient food, medicine stocks, no need to panic-buy – Middle East Monitor

There are sufficient supplies of wheat and barley in Jordan, the director of Aqaba Industry and Trade said, calling on people in Jordan not to panic-buy items.

The kingdom  has supplies which will last it one year, Ibrahim Al-Hawamdeh stressed, adding that shipments of the commodities are arriving in Aqaba on schedule.

Sixty-three tonnes of wheat arrived in the port of Aqaba yesterday having been shipped from Romania.

This comes as Prime Minister Omar Razzaz confirmed that Jordan has sufficient stocks of food and medicine and that there’s no need for panic-buying.

The country has suspended flights in its effort to contain the coronavirus. Al-Razzaz said flights of land, air and sea freight for goods, food and medicine were not affected by the recent measures.
