ALBANY – An audit by the state comptroller’s office determined that the Brewster Central School District did not follow school board policies and applicable statutory requirements when procuring some professional services.
The study found the district did not seek competition for those services from three of the 10 professional service providers reviewed. They were paid $696,291 during the audit period.
The state investigators said the board should ensure that officials comply with the purchasing policy when procuring professional services and the district should conduct a periodic review of professional service providers to determine the need for new requests for proposals.
District officials generally agreed with the auditors’ recommendations and indicated they planned to initiative corrective action.
