South Florida 100: The 2020 presidential election, addressing the climate change crisis; the 2020 Census count

Nan Rich, member, Broward County Commission

Looking ahead to 2020: The Census is coming in 2020! The US Constitution mandates that every person residing in the US, citizen and noncitizen, be counted every 10 years. As chair of Broward’s 2020 Census Complete Count Committee, our goal is to achieve the highest count ever. Census data affects every aspect of our lives. It is used to distribute $675 Billion annually in Federal funds, for schools, hospitals, child care, nursing homes, housing, transportation, drawing congressional and state legislative districts, and more. Together, we can spread the word about the critical importance of participating in the Census and receiving our fair share.
