Smiths News Says Fiscal 2022 Performance to Date in Line With Views

By Anthony O. Goriainoff

Smiths News PLC said on Thursday that its overall performance for fiscal 2022 to date was in line with market expectations, and that the uncertainty and restrictions stemming from the Omicron coronavirus variant has only had a limited effect on its markets.

The U.K. newspaper and magazine wholesaler said the board remained confident in the company’s profit and cash generation as the economic environment improved. The company added that its sales, sustainable efficiency savings, operational cost controls and health and safety performance were all on track.

“We start the new calendar year with confidence in our plans, underpinned by the demonstrable headway we have made over the last two years,” Chief Executive Jonathan Bunting said.
