Smartmetric resumes smart card production after coronavirus hits supply chain

Smartmetric Inc. said that it has commenced manufacturing its biometric smart card after supply chain delays due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The self-powered biometric card uses a human fingerprint to authenticate transactions at various types of merchants without a card reader and can also be used for ATM transactions.

“It is expected that within the next 30 days our biometric credit card will be in the hands of our partners who will be able to present our product to card issuing banks around the world,” Chaya Hendrick, president of Smartmetric, said in a company release.
