Sevic Systems to build new factory for light electric utility vehicles in Bulgaria

SOFIA (Bulgaria), February 22 (SeeNews) – Germany-based electric commercial vehicle manufacturer Sevic Systems plans to build a new factory in Bulgaria where it will produce some 1,000 vehicles per year, the innovation ministry in Sofia said on Tuesday.

The first 500 Sevic v500e all-electric light utility vehicles have already been assembled in Trakia Economic Zone near the city of Plovdiv and will be exported, with particular interest in them expressed in Western Europe and the U.S., the ministry said in a press release.

The trucks’ battery allows a 300 km run, while the load capacity stands at around 600 kg. Sevic v500e has been certified for operation on the roads of Europe by vehicle testing and type approval organisation UTAC.

In 2018, Sevic said it and Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Cenntro Automotive Corporation intend to invest 10 million euro ($11.3 million) in the following three years to produce in Bulgaria 60% of the parts of a small electric utility vehicle, as well as assemble it in Trakia Economic Zone.

($ = 0.8817 euro)
