Romania’s Soceram completes 20 mln euro investment in AAC factory, plans one more

BUCHAREST (Romania), August 18 (SeeNews) – Romanian construction materials manufacturer Soceram has completed a 20 million euro ($23.7 million) investment in a new autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) factory and plans to build another one, it said on Tuesday.

The new production facility in Cordun, Neamt county, has a capacity of 450,000 cubic meters per year and will start exporting its products to Moldova and Ukraine at the beginning of 2021, Soceram said in a press release.

Until then, the factory will undergo technological production testing.

“The investment strategy continues with the development of a new modern production unit. Soceram is preparing to start the construction of another AAC factory, with higher capacity, in Targu Carbunesti, Gorj county,” Elena Albu,  president of the board of directors at Soceram, said.

With the newest planned factory, Soceram will reach three AAC production facilities.The group also operates a ceramic blocks production unit and a mortar production plant in Romania.

Established in 1991 in Campina, Prahova county, Soceram posted a net profit of 28 million lei ($6.9 million/5.8 million euro) in 2019, up by 46% on the year, on a 152 million lei turnover, up by an annual 28%, according to the most recent data posted on the finance ministry’s website.
