Locals expressed concern over the menace of stray dogs in Kottayam after a 12-year-old girl died from dog bite. “Several cases of dog bites were reported recently. They should be rehabilitated to a new place and essential assistance should be provided to them,”said a local.
People from other states were brought in to create nuisance in Bengal. They (BJP) brought bombs & pistols & did hooliganism in the name of protests. I’ve never stopped democratic protests,but no anti-social activity will be tolerated in the name of politics.

Patna student holding tricolor flag beating incident; ADM) KK Singh demoted
Patna Additional District Magistrate (ADM) KK Singh, who allegedly beat up a teaching job aspirant during a protest on August 22, has been removed from the post of ADM Law and Order of Patna, with immediate effect. A protesting student holding tricolour was beaten mercilessly in the middle of the road by the city’s Additional District Magistrate (law and order) while he laid on the ground injured. The video of the student being beaten up by a stick had gone viral on social media while he is pleading and crying.

Hyderabad fire incident: Hotel owner, manager among 4 arrested
Four persons, including the hotel owner and manager, were arrested in connection with the fire accident in Secunderabad here in which eight people died and 11 others were injured, city police said. A press release from the police said one more accused is at large. The police said they arrested Ranjeet Singh (first accused), owner of the hotel; his son Suneet Singh, Naridla Sudarshan Naidu, Manager of Ruby Hotel; and Jaspal Singh Gulati, cashier in Ruby Electric Scooters. Supreet Singh, another son of Ranjeet Singh, is absconding, the release said.

ATS Gujarat along with Indian Coast Guard jointly apprehended a Pakistani Boat with 6 crew & seized 40 kg of heroin worth Rs 200 Cr. Two residents of Delhi who came to take the delivery have also been arrested. Eight people incl 6 Pak nationals arrested, said Gujarat DGP Ashish Bhatia. We’ve also seized the boat & a four-wheeler vehicle. A Nigerian national who is lodged in Amritsar jail and a person named Mehraj Rahmani who is lodged in Kapurthala jail ordered this consignment of heroin from a Karachi-based drug lord. We’re probing it further.

India is poised to allow 5 million tonnes of sugar exports in the first tranche for the new marketing year beginning October, two government sources said. “The permission to export 5 million tonnes of sugar is expected in the coming weeks and once we have a better sense about next sugar year’s production, we could allow another 3 to 5 million tonnes for exports,” said one of the sources who didn’t wish to be named in line with official rules.

EU to ban products made using forced labour
The European Commission proposed an EU ban on products made using forced labour with legislation that will add to existing U.S. pressure on China, but will likely change before it enters force. The EU executive does not name any country in its proposal, but it follows a European Parliament call for such a law in June that highlighted concerns over human rights in China’s Xinjiang region. Rights groups accuse Beijing of abuses against Uyghurs, a mainly Muslim ethnic minority, in Xinjiang, including mass forced labour in internment camps. The United States, which accuses China of genocide, introduced a law in 2021 that broadly prohibits importing goods from Xinjiang. China denies abuses in the region, a major cotton producer that also supplies materials for solar panels.

Sikkim govt hikes minimum wage by 67%
The Sikkim government hiked the minimum wage for unskilled workers by 67 per cent to Rs 500. The daily wage for unskilled workers was increased from Rs 300 to Rs 500 with retrospective effect from July 11, 2022, Labour Minister Lok Nath Sharma said. The daily wage for semi-skilled workers was increased to Rs 520 from Rs 320, while skilled workers will get Rs 535 instead of Rs 335 earlier, he said. Highly-skilled workers will now get Rs 565 per day instead of Rs 365, Sharma said.
